About Our Work
We believe that change is possible if we work together to mobilize resources and pursue a vision. Coins of Hope is a catalyst for sustainable development in Mpoyi, with a vision to advance a spirit of self-sufficiency. Mpoyi has shown that it can improve life outcomes even without government support. The target population for this project is among the poorest regions in the Congo/DRC, with no paved roads and no running water. Even though public education is technically free, parents often cannot send their children to school because they cannot pay other required fees of as low as $100 per year. COH covers these costs.
Since 2010, Coins of Hope has provided a pair of oxen for farming, provided a roof for the COH school, and provided support for students’ tuition and school uniforms. COH also hosts summer schools. The parents and community members in Mpoyi are actively involved to ensure the project’s success.
